Home & School News September 2009

Home & School is meeting TONIGHT, Wednesday, September 9th at 5pm in the School Cafeteria. Please note the earlier start time of the meeting (previously announced as a 7pm meeting).  The following upcoming H&S events are on our agenda for discussion.  If you cannot make the meeting, feel free to e-mail us with your comments, ideas or suggestions!
  • Wii Tournament - Join us for a fun family night out on Saturday, September 19th.  Registration forms were sent home in the Friday Folder last week.  A downloadable PDF will be available soon online.
  • Aluminum Recycling Contest - Don't forget to save your aluminum cans and bring them to the recycle bin next Friday, Sept. 18 or Monday, Sept. 21 between 7:30-8:00 a.m.  Each student who brings at least 2lbs of cans (about 66 cans) will receive a free dress down day, and the classroom with the highest percentage participation will receive a special prize.

Aluminum Cans -  Continue to save your aluminum cans and deposit them in the bins at church or school all summer!  Even if you now have the new recycling curbside service at your home, please consider reserving your paper and aluminum to deposit in our school's recycling bins.  The Home & School Committee budgets recycling revenues of over $6,000 each year, and we hope we can continue to count on everyone's support to maintain this easy fundraiser!  Again, all proceeds from the aluminum cans are used to purchase technology-related resources for the school.  If you have questions about this fundraiser, visit www.recyclechallenge.org or contact Brenda Podry at 314-837-3410.

MyCokeRewards for Schools: If you drink Coca-Cola and are looking for something to do with all of those Rewards Points - you can now donate them to St. Rose School.  Visitwww.mycokerewards.com/schools and choose St. Rose as the school you'd like to support. You can also save your codes and turn them in to Home & School so we can enter them for you. We can use the reward points to redeem for sports equipment and other school resources.

Box Tops for Education: Don't forget to save your box tops - easy money for our school!  Stay tuned as the school year begins for information about classroom collection contests.

GoodSearch: Here's an EASY way you can help earn some extra cash for our school!  Go to  http://www.goodsearch.com/?charityid=873892 and choose St. Rose Philippine Duchesne Catholic School as the school you'd like to support.  Then, everytime you search the web use GoodSearch and St. Rose will earn a penny per search.  It may not sound like a lot, but the pennies add up quickly.  If we had just 100 people using Good Search for only 2 web searches each day, we could earn more than $700 for our school in a year - and the sky's the limit - the more searchs, the more we earn.  It's truly effortless - we can get paid for something you probably do daily anyway!  So please start using GoodSearch today. And, spread the word to Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Friends and Coworkers who may be willing to use GoodSearch to benefit St. Rose too!
