Celebrating 10 Years: Salute to our School Library

posted Oct 13, 2014, 3:09 PM by Saint Rose Home and School

We are celebrating our 10th year as St. Rose Philippine Duchesne Parish and School.  As we approach the actual 10th anniversary date (July 1, 2015), each month  we will do something special at school around the 10th of the month.

Welcome to the Kingdom of Reading - Enchanted ForestOn Friday, October 10, students participated in a $1 dress down day with proceeds going to support more book purchases for our outstanding school library! Even better, for every $1 raised today Scholastic book fairs will donate one book to the Kids in Need Foundation and Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc. - sharing our love of reading with others in need.

We are very fortunate to have a full size, staffed library that is fully‐automated and contains 12,794 titles in the entire collection! The AR program is highly regarded as one of the best reading comprehension programs in the world. St. Rose is one of just two Catholic Schools in our Deanery to use the AR program and the ONLY school to use it in Kdg.‐8th grade. As a result our reading scores have increased significantly over the past ten years.  This year the library's theme is fairy tales: "Welcome to the Kingdom of Reading."  Pictured here is the enchanted forest storytime area.  Learn more about our library program at https://sites.google.com/site/stroseclassroompages/library
